Happy Jesus Day:
Today, my eyes were open, and I had to ask for forgiveness because I was convicted. I was taught to pray over the churches, houses, businesses, schools, etc., asking God to bless these buildings. The Holy Spirit spoke to me, saying, “Why do you pray over the building which Brick and Mortar? It’s the people who entered it that need prayer?” Bricks and Mortar have no souls to save, but those who come in need pray. Thinking back over my life, I never thought about this, but as I look back over the opportunities I missed to pray for people, it saddens me. Ephesians 6:12 makes it clear that evil spirits are the source of our human struggle in this fallen world: “For our struggles is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” People are the ones that bring chaos into the building, which is their fears, doubts, bitterness, hatred, being a burden, jealousy, and so many more. So pray for the people, not the building, next time you pray.
